沙神父:
如果信仰变成一种道德观....

The Confucian tradition influenced Chinese Catholicism by making it primarily a moral teaching. Catholics are law abiding. They follow the Commandments of God and the rules of the Church. They deeply respect hierarchical authorities. In this way they show some passivity, waiting for orders from the priests rather than taking initiatives in witnessing to the Gospel. Protestants are more active, because they rely more on their inner conviction and their union with Christ.

Today, Catholics also read the Bible and can draw from it the spirit of Christ. They learn that men are weak and sinners. All men need a Savior. They are saved by faith and love and not by their moral virtues. To be perfect means sharing Gods love.
